Blak Ryno's charges dropped

According to a website dancehall singjay Blak Ryno of the Vybz Kartel led Portmore Empire had the assault charges against him dropped  when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last week.
The article stated that, when the case was mentioned, the Magistrate was informed by the investigating officer that the complainant would not be attending court due to threats on his life and was no longer interested in pursuing the matter.
Before dismissing the charges the somewhat reluctant Resident Magistrate said people should not be afraid or intimidated to come to court and give evidence as it is their civil right. After a brief moment of deliberation the displeased Magistrate informed Blak Ryno that he was free to go but not with the blessings of the court.

US Goverment Entrapped Buju Banton

TAMPA, Fla. -- The attorney for Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton says the government entrapped his client in a drug deal.
In court documents filed Tuesday, David Markus says the government used a paid informant to convince his client to buy cocaine. The defense is pushing to have the informant's identity revealed.
To prove entrapment, Markus will have to show that Banton was not predisposed to engage in criminal behavior and that the government induced him.
Banton was arrested at his Tamarac home on Dec. 10. The 36-year-old singer, born Mark Myrie, pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in Tampa federal court. He's being held without bail at Pinellas County Jail.
Banton's trial is expected to begin in March. His latest album, "Rasta Got Soul," has been nominated for a Grammy.

SEVERAL MEMBERS OF the Portmore Empire have been quick to deny being beaten, as well as any involvement or knowl-edge of any beating that have taken place in the crew. As news of an assault on teenage singer and member of the Portmore Empire, Gaza Kim at ‘Blg Yard’, off Mannings Hill·Road, spread in the media yesterday, other members of the Portmore Empire have since
contacted Jamaicalive to proclaim their innocence.Rumours have been circulating
that other members of the Empire were being beaten on a regular basis and another artiste was rumoured to have been beaten over the weekend when they defended Gaza Kim.
According to reports on Tuesday, Gaza Kim was at Big Yard when she and a group of men got into a verbal altercation. Jamaicalive source claimed that Vybz Kartel arrived on the scene and the men were instructed to beat her. A statement from Kartel, however, denied his involvement in the incident and condemned violence against females and children. Osama Bin Laden Releases New Tape

DUBAI – Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden claimed responsibility for the botched Christmas Day bombing of a US airliner and vowed further strikes on American targets, in an audio message broadcast on Sunday.
The message aired by Al-Jazeera television warned US President Barack Obama the attack was meant as a similar message to September 11, 2001 when Al-Qaeda militants hijacked and crashed passenger jets into iconic American buildings.
The recording said it was a message from "Osama to Obama," and IntelCenter, a US group that monitors Islamist websites, said it contained "language used by bin Laden... in advance of attacks."
